About DJXMMX.net
Intro: What is DJXMMX.net?
To put it simply, the whole domain is a large learning experience that encompasses many aspects from network design and maintainance to server administration and client support.
DJXMMX.net is a small domain concept that I created back in 2005. Although its official start was in 2006, I have been hosting services under direct IP adressing and free domain names for a while.
Many people ask, what does "DJXMMX" stand for:
DJXMMX.net
"DJX" is my primary nickname on the Internet and the ".net" TLD is to best fit my domain.
I am more of a network service than a commercial site or organization.
A slick little domain name...
History: "Back Then..."
Although this is a fairly new domain, there is still some history behind the name.
Like I said on the "Look Into The Past" section on my home page, I first started hosting a web site back in August of 2006.
That doesn't necessarily mean that that is when I first started hosting services on the Internet.
My first hosting services were game servers. I hosted Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and Quake III game servers.
I was really into gamming at that time and it was a lot of fun to have full controll over your own game server that other people actually played in.
After that, I started hosting a small FTP server. This was pretty much the start of it all.
I wanted a way of directly sharing things with my friends and family and I accomplished this, at first, with an extra machine around my house and Windows XP.
Later on, I decieded that I wanted to improve and expand things, so I started my first web site. I didn't have much: no domain name, and the web site was pretty much plain text, a few "hrefs," and pure directory listings.
I eventually researched some basic HTML and some simple server concepts then finally moved to my first real server environment, Windows Server 2003 R2.
Today: Where Are We Going?
Now, looking back on it all, I have established quite a bit.
I own a domain name, have my own server, and I secured a fast Internet connection.
Everything you see on this domain was setup and configured by myself.
It may not look like much from the outside but I have come a long way and learned quite a bit, since 2005.
Who knows: "What Will Be Next"
